A quick look at how we operate

Who we are

Rangers, since 2017

A semi-realistic Arma 3 unit portraying the 2/75th Ranger Regiment, with 3/160th SOAR and other support attachments.

  • English-speaking, with members across Europe and the world
  • Real-world tactics, adapted to what Arma can actually do
  • Quality over quantity, built on immersion and teamwork
How ops work

One operation a week

A handcrafted main operation every Friday evening, written and run by our own Zeus team. Briefing at 19:00, endex around 22:00.

  • Around 30 players on a typical Friday
  • Zeus-built missions, plus Antistasi and Liberation nights midweek
  • Deployments across Iraq, Afghanistan, Norway, Bosnia and beyond
What we ask

75% attendance a month

That is what we expect from anyone holding a slotted role. Cannot make an op? Post an LOA or ELOA ahead of it and it counts as valid leave.

  • Requirements: 16+ years old, Discord, TeamSpeak 3, a working microphone and a legal copy of Arma 3
  • Complete your training: BCT, RASP 1, or both, depending on your experience and hours in game
Our history

From Norway to the 75th

  1. 2017-2018

    Norwegian beginnings

The Lost Battalion was founded as a Norwegian Armed Forces unit. Briefings, comms and paperwork all ran in Norwegian.

  2. 2019

    English, and across the Atlantic

As more international players joined we switched the unit over to English, and moved from the Norwegian Armed Forces to a US Army structure.

  3. 2019-2022

    Finding the shape

A restless few years. We ran as US Special Forces, SEAL Team, Delta and Green Berets, then spent a stretch as US Marines while we worked out what actually suited the group.

  4. 2022-2023

    Rangers

We transitioned to US Army Rangers. The setup still was not settled, so for a while we ran a mix of Ranger operations and special operations work.

  5. 2023-2024

    The 75th, properly

We implemented the 75th Ranger Regiment structure we still play today and built up a full platoon. At its peak that was three ground squads, Platoon HQ and an air detachment.

  6. 2025-2027

    Quality over quantity

We began deliberately scaling back. The goal now is not how many members we have, but how good they are. That stays our focus going forward.

How the platoon is put together

  • Company HQCommand and staff
  • Platoon HQCommand element, medics, forward observers
  • 3 Ground SquadsRifle squads, each with two fireteams
  • Combat Support Group"Nomad", multi-role enablers
  • Air Squadron3/160th SOAR "Corsair", rotary and fixed wing

3rd Combat Support Group Nomad

Stood up 2026

We learned early that you can have a hundred squads each specialising in their own department and still come up short. We tried a dedicated CAV detachment and a sniper/recon element before, and kept hitting the same problem: not every operation needs every enabler. Some nights you need a sniper team. Most nights you do not. Some nights you need Bradleys, APCs or IFVs. Most nights you do not.

  • A single multi-purpose support element attached to the platoon
  • Fills whatever the mission calls for: CAV, mortars, recon or sniper
  • Means we never have to run a joint op with another unit just to borrow assets

3/160th SOAR Corsair

Rebuilt 2026

In 2026 we wiped the air detachment entirely and rebuilt it from scratch, choosing to put together a small solid group of pilots rather than carry on with what we had. Corsair flies rotary and fixed wing for the platoon.

  • Rotary and fixed wing aviators
  • Typically one to three pilots flying on a given operation
  • Trained in-house through the aviation qualification track

How a Friday runs

  1. By 18:40On the server, mods loaded, comms checked.
  2. 19:00Briefing. Orders, scheme of manoeuvre, callsigns.
  3. 19:30Boots down. The operation proper begins.
  4. ~22:00Endex, followed by debrief.
  5. 22:30 to 23:00Occasionally, if the mission or your squad runs long.

We expect 75% attendance a month from anyone holding a slotted role. If you cannot make an op, file an LOA or ELOA ahead of it and it counts as valid leave. A no-show without one is recorded as an AWOL.

Getting in

From application to your first op

  1. ApplyJoin the Discord and fill out the application. We usually review within 24 to 48 hours.
  2. InterviewA relaxed 30-minute chat with S1 Personnel. You are either accepted or declined at the end of it.
  3. CandidateYou join as a Candidate at PV1 and are assigned training based on your Arma experience.
  4. BCT or RASP 1Under 200 Arma hours you run BCT first. Over 200, you go straight to RASP 1. RASP 1 is mandatory for all full members.
  5. PV2, then PFCCompleting RASP 1 promotes you to PV2. An assessment period follows while we work out which squad and roles suit you, then PFC unlocks dedicated role slots.

BCT

Under 200 Arma hours

1 to 3 hours, depending on turnout and experience

Radio SOPs and ACE reports, map reading and PID, standing ROE, medical basics, addon options, controls and keybinds, smoke usage.

Install the modpack before you arrive. We go over what the mods are and how we use them, not how to set them up. After BCT you may attend two missions to try the unit out before continuing.

Read the BCT handout

RASP 1

Over 200 Arma hours, and mandatory for all full members

3 to 4 hours, depending on turnout and experience

Common questions

Things people ask us

How many people turn up to an operation?

Around 30 players on an average Friday.

Are new players welcome?

Yes. We take complete newcomers and veterans alike. BCT exists precisely so that no prior Arma experience is needed.

How big is the modpack?

Roughly 50 to 60 mods. Set aside about 40GB of disk space.

Can I pick my role?

You start in the Overflow Squad. Once you are PFC and hold the relevant qualification you can request a specific role, if one is open. At the start of every deployment all roles reset and everyone submits first, second and third choices.

What roles are available?

On the ground: Squad Leader, Team Leader, machine gunner, anti-tank, grenadier, engineer, medic, UAV operator and JTAC. In the air: rotary and fixed wing pilots. Rifleman needs no qualification at all.

How long is an operation?

About three hours. 19:30 to roughly 22:00, plus briefing beforehand and debrief afterwards.

What if I cannot make an operation?

Submit an LOA or ELOA at least 24 hours in advance and you are covered. A no-show without one counts as AWOL.

Where is the unit based?

Europe, mostly Northern and Central. We run on CET/CEST and the unit is English-speaking.

Arma 3 or Arma Reforger?

Arma 3. That is where our focus stays for now.

How long until my application is reviewed?

Usually within 24 to 48 hours.

Sound like your kind of unit?

No forms to grind through. An application, a short chat, and we will get you into training and onto a Friday op.
